AWARD-WINNING CARE. MEANINGFUL WORK. A TEAM THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE.

Full-Time | Jackson, Michigan
Starting pay: $17/hour, with compensation based on relevant experience

Looking for work where you can be creative, connect with people, and make someone's day a little brighter?

Jackson County Medical Care Facility is looking for a dependable, energetic, and caring Activities Assistant to help create meaningful experiences for our residents.

For more than 185 years, JCMCF has served the Jackson County community. Today, we are a 194-bed, county-owned skilled nursing facility guided by a simple mission: You are why we're here.

As an Activities Assistant, you'll play an important role in making JCMCF feel like home. You'll build relationships with residents, encourage participation, and help create activities, events, outings, and everyday moments that bring connection, purpose, and joy.

What You'll Do

You'll work with our Activities team to organize and facilitate engaging programs for our residents. Depending on the day, that might mean:

  • Leading games, bingo, crafts, or painting
  • Helping residents enjoy gardening and outdoor activities
  • Assisting with concerts, celebrations, and special events
  • Participating in fishing trips, picnics, and community outings
  • Encouraging residents to participate and helping everyone feel welcome
  • Preparing activity spaces and materials
  • Working with fellow CarePartners to create positive experiences for our residents

No two days are exactly the same, so we're looking for someone who can bring energy, creativity, organization, and initiative to the role.

Who We're Looking For

You may be a great fit if you are:

  • An excellent communicator
  • Dependable and self-motivated
  • Positive and able to work well as part of a team
  • Creative, energetic, and comfortable engaging with others
  • Organized and willing to take initiative
  • Comfortable using computers and learning new systems
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment

Experience working in activities, recreation, volunteer coordination, senior living, long-term care, or with older adults is preferred.

A CDL is preferred but not required.

Schedule

This is a full-time position supporting resident programming throughout the week. Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes:

  • Two evenings per week
  • One to two Saturdays per month
  • One to two holidays per year

Because resident activities happen beyond traditional business hours, these schedule requirements are an important part of the position.

Why JCMCF?

Our work is grounded in four core values:

Create a Positive Environment — We greet, encourage, and show up for one another.

Elevate Growth — We welcome change, recognize achievement, and invest in goals.

Bring Joy! — We celebrate, laugh, and look for opportunities to make someone's day better.

Cultivate Comfort — We create a place that feels like home and where lasting relationships can grow.

JCMCF has been recognized by Newsweek as one of America's Best Nursing Homes for five consecutive years, received a U.S. News Best Nursing Homes 2025 designation, and earned AHCA Bronze Quality Awards in 2023 and 2026.

But what matters most is what our residents experience every day:

"Staff evolved into friends." — Susan

"Can't imagine getting better care anywhere else." — Neil

"I wouldn't recommend anywhere else — this place is the best!" — David
